The Block 2026 Finale: Every Home Sells as Courtney and Sev Set a Record

| 2 Min Read
Every team sold at The Block 2026 finale, with Courtney and Sev earning a $1.27 million profit as a late auction order change drew scrutiny.

The headline result from The Block’s 2026 finale was a clean sweep: every team sold, and Courtney and Sev emerged as the biggest winners in the show’s history. But the auction order change has left some viewers questioning whether the result was fair. The complaints are loud; the evidence of deliberate rigging isn’t established by the fragment.

Courtney and Sev’s house sold for $4,720,000, leaving the best-friend team with a $1.27 million profit. Their auction was moved earlier in the running order by producers, although the order was supposed to have been settled well before the finale. That reshuffle worked out in their favour, prompting viewers to accuse the show of engineering the outcome.

“Yeah, they rigged for the girls to win,” one viewer wrote on the show’s official social media channels. Others objected that the auction order had already been agreed, questioned how a house without a sea view could beat those that had one, and listed earlier grievances including perfect scores for unfinished rooms, extra help and spending beyond budget without consequences. Those are viewers’ allegations, not proof of a fix—but changing the order so late was bound to invite suspicion.

The complaints sit alongside a finale that was a sharp turn from the 2025 Daylesford season. Several houses that year were passed in and remained unsold almost a year after filming wrapped. In 2026, every team left with a profit.

How the 2026 finale unfolded

The tension came before the bidding. At the lunch where teams learned their reserves and tried to secure auction positions, everyone seemed relieved by the $3,450,000 reserve. Rick and Tayla’s was $3,500,000, reduced by the $50,000 discount they won in the final week.

That discount looks less consequential when the reserves were already set low across the board. Still, the show had reason to be cautious after the market conditions and the Daylesford season’s poor results. For the 2025 contestants, watching this year’s teams clear their reserves and sell must have stung.

The calm didn’t last. Every team wanted one of the first two auction slots, and alliances formed as contestants argued over the order. Adam and Jolene joined forces with Lisa and Rosco; Courtney and Sev had the support of Chantel and Wyatt. The personal barbs followed. Wyatt called Lisa “a really rude person”, Chantel agreed, and Sev said Lisa couldn’t look her in the eye after describing herself and Courtney as “smug” in an interview. “Has she seen herself?” Courtney shot back.

Rick and Tayla were the least invested in the fight for position. They wanted first or second, too, but backed off when it became clear the others were set on those spots. “Whatever will be will be,” Tayla said.

With no agreement in sight, a random draw looked likely—until Lisa relented and accepted an order based on house numbers: Adam and Jolene first, Chantel and Wyatt second, Lisa and Rosco third, Courtney and Sev fourth, and Rick and Tayla fifth. Courtney and Sev and Rick and Tayla drew the later slots, while Lisa remained unhappy with the deal.

Rick and Tayla took one for the team, and it paid off in spades for them.

By auction day, the atmosphere had eased. Lisa and Rosco’s son Jude had been born eight days earlier, and the teams managed to exchange congratulations and good wishes despite the earlier clashes.

Then Courtney and Sev received an unexpected offer from Chantel and Wyatt’s agent: swap auction positions. The agent believed Chantel and Wyatt’s home was attracting little interest and might benefit from buyers who had missed out on a more sought-after property. Sev called it “a loaded gift” and said they had planned around position four. Courtney said she wanted everyone to do well. They accepted the swap.

The change matters to the fairness debate because it altered the sequence again, this time through a decision involving the teams’ agents. The fragment doesn’t explain what effect the move had on the sale price, but it gave Courtney and Sev another chance to change their position before bidding began.

Danny Wallis’ takes his annual opportunity for attention.

Danny Wallis, a familiar presence at Block auctions, again drew attention with bids in unusually small increments. He also bid on Rick and Tayla’s property, despite having been rude about it earlier in the season. The auctioneers had to play along with his antics; it’s a peculiar part of the spectacle, and apparently money buys a lot of patience.

Adam and Jolene started proceedings with nine registered bidders. The first offer came in $50,000 above reserve, and they ultimately cleared $455,000 in profit. “Absolutely life changing,” Jolene said.

Adam and Jolene get the auctions off to a flying start.

Host Shelley Craft sounded relieved as the first sale got underway, saying, “Oh I’m so relieved,” to the ceiling. Courtney and Sev then took the lead in the results: their profit was $1,270,000, alongside the $100,000 winners’ cheque and a bonus prize pool worth $500,000. That made them the biggest winners in Block history.

Courtney’s face says it all.

Lisa and Rosco made $250,000 on the opening bid and finished with $550,000 in profit. Their winning bidder asked, “Can I hold the baby?” Lisa replied, “You can hold the baby, hun. You can have the baby”—a joke, presumably.

Chantel and Wyatt sold for $3,817,000 and made $367,000, the smallest profit of the night. The rumoured wealthy brother-in-law didn’t appear to swoop in, but the pair seemed happy with the result; Chantel cried and said, “I’d have been happy with one hundred grand, honestly.”

Rick and Tayla, who had been willing to give ground in the auction-order dispute, ended up in second place. Their home sold for $4,355,000, giving them $905,000 for three months’ work. After the unsold houses and passed-in properties of 2025, this was a much better finish for both the contestants and the audience. It doesn’t settle the questions about the running order, but it does explain why the finale felt like a reset.
