The New Bahru development, housed in a converted modernist school, provides the perfect backdrop for the restaurant's unique concept. According to Jax Tan, co-founder of Open Studio, the design interprets the essence of izakayas, which often blend with their street surroundings, creating a lively and accessible atmosphere. "That blurred boundary between the street and the restaurant is what we found most interesting," Tan noted.
